I just got a Jetpack MIFI 7730L and want to connect it with a USB-to-Ethernet adapter to my Linksys Max-Stream 5540 Router so that I have greater WIFI range in my house and dump my DSL internet service. -- similar to this image below, but I want to directly link my Jetpack to my router using a USB-to-ethernet adapter.

My ac1200+ router is unable to connect to the internet through a modem. The activity light on the modem and the light on the internet port on the router are on but not blinking. I am able to connect to the router and setup/change settings. Also, I am able to connect to the internet when I connect the modem directly to the computer.
I have a Linksys E2500 and I'm trying to connect it to my ISP provided router (Actiontec V1000H) because I wanted better range and consistent connectivity for my 6+ wireless devices. My problem is that, to make this work, I connected an ethernet cable from the E2500's yellow internet port to one of my V1000H's LAN ports. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system. It should work.
